Man Of The Match: Terence

Team analysis:

1) Forwards: According to statistic, our forwards did well this time to score plenty of goals compared to Match 1 against Gang Bintang. What's amazing was to see all the forwards getting their names on the scoreboard. Job well done!

Area to improve: Sasi mention that it's very hard for 1 player to dribble the ball up and score by himself. Forwards need to have the ability to receive the ball, control and find oppurcunities for teammates to score. As for the other forward who doesn't has the ball, your job is to run into open space to receive those passes.

Forwards also needs to contribute more in defending.

When we were leading, Sasi did mention to remain at 70%, then preassure the opponents and come back 70% again. But what we did was still 100%. It's important to follow the intructions of our coach as it's part of the strategy and to be able to remain it as teamwork. If players don't follow the plan, then it'l be difficult to have teamwork.

2) Centers: Main job is to build up attacks and at the same time protect the defenders.

Areas to improve: Stamina to form an attack and to run back to defend at all times. Ability to connect the defender's passes to the forward's attack.

3) Defenders: Same as the Match 1, defenders was able to show control of passing within own half. Strong defensive runs to prevent opponents from out-running us. Was able to stand against the physical challenge from opponents.

Areas to improve: Defenders was able to pass the ball within own half to control, but many times our ball pocession was lost when we passes the ball up front. Forwards and Centers will need to work hard to find openings for defenders to have a good pass up front. Defenders need to be fast to prevent opponents from making shots.

4) Goalkeeper: First time goallie for the club. Would like to thanks James and Colin for willing to take up this challenge to sit in as goallie during the absents of Bob. I've experince being goallie before and understand the urge in goallies to want to just grap a stick, run up to fight for the ball and to score goals. But to be goallie, this is the sacrifice needed to stand in the post at all times.

Good job as many shots from opponents was safe. Mainly due to good positioning and good focus. The 4 goals conceded were good goals from the opponents and difficult to prevent.

Area to improve is the ball throwing part. Few times the ball was thrown directly to opponents near the danger zone. If there is no good option to throw, goallie should hold the ball, stand up and look for other better options. No rush.

5) General to all players: Sasi mention that fitness is very important to play floorball as our body must have the ability to change directions within 1 second.

He mention that there are highly skilled, middle skilled and low skilled players. Well, let's keep it simple and let's all train hard so all players will be highly skilled?

Conclusion: Salibandy!Co first win of the season. Many more matches to go, so we all need to remain focus and continue to improve. Match 1 conceded 12 goals, Match 2 conceded 4 goals, Match 3 if we keep clean sheet, I'll belanja all players drink after the match!

Team analysis:

1) Most the goals scored is from defender, therefore the forwards need to work extra hard to get the goals since scoring goals is the job of forwards. Did well in preasuring opponents and wining the ball. In addition, forwards need to have the ability to hold the ball upfront and create scoring oppurcunities. Train more ball control and shooting!

2) Defenders was able to control the game by good team passing in own half. Well done! Shall continue to keep our passing culture in every game.

3) Goalkeeper, this was your first match as a goallie and your debut match for Salibandy!Co, great job!!! Keep on train hard and you'll be a great player.

4) We were leading in the 1st and 2nd period because we are now stronger in terms of ability and more attacking power. We lost in the final period mainly due to lack of physical and stamina. We need to train MORE on STAMINA, if not history will repeat again!

5) Remember to do warm-up before start of game. You all know what I mean >.<

Conclusion: Salibandy!Co prove that we are capable of wining the best team (defending champions for 2 season) but just lack of physical fitness and man power which resulted in a defeat in the final period.

The year 2012 is approaching soon, by then, Salibandy!Co would have been in TARC for 6 years, establised since year 2006.

Throughout these years, I've seen and get to know many players in and out of this club. Having the first batch of floorballers in TARC are such as Deswyn, Gerard, Andrew Yeap, Danush, Andrian, Gavin, Song Sing, Dorcus etc....

and then when some of these senior players graduated and left college, a new batch of players arises such as Kel Sern, Ricky, daniel phang, Errol, Ravi, Jonathan, Terence, Fabian, bob, etc...

and now that the year is approaching 2012, we also have the latest batch of players such as Isaac Kong, Kenaan, Vincent Cheah, Jansen, James, etc....

There are many more player's name which I missed out, just too much to type all here. hehe=) Anyway, the main point is I feel very blessed to know all these players. Each has their own special style of floorball and character.

Looking back of all these years, Salibandy!Co had gone through a lot... these experiences can't be describe by words. In short, this club had been part of many player's life during and after college.

Salibandy!Co will kick-start it's first league match on 1st Janauary 2012 VS the defending champion "Gang Bintang". Although Salibandy!Co had never won against Gang Bintang since SFL Season 1, but things might be different this time. Since the departure of the 1st batch of senior players, Salibandy!Co had then slowly grown to be a stronger and more competitive team.

League 1 of SFL, Salibandy!Co got 3rd placing, and in the 2nd SFL League, we drop to 5th placing. Although disapoiniting, but we've put the past behind and will start this 3rd season with high spirits. We aim to get nothing lessor than 3rd placing this season. Although there are more stronger teams now, but we shall not fear.

May Salibandy!Co continue to play as a Co team and to achieve the imposibles!

Kelana Jaya basketball court....Your committment in this training is much appreciated.
We will do more of drills which includes sprinting, skills, and physical training.

Congrats to them which they had won against us. They were the better side. Nevertheless, Salibandy!Co also did a great comeback but just not enough to beat them.

Just to put a reminder, this saturday will be our first league of the season. The league will start at 11am at Shah Alam bola tampar court. Well name of the place is .........better ask ricky or kelsern... Btw, does that need transport please let us know as soon as possible. Not one hour before the match k. Not to forget, sleep well before the night at least 8 hours, rest well, eat well but dont over eat or feed, and have a light and proper breakfast before the game or else you will not have energy to run...Breakfast is the most important meal. Well i guess no doubt that this Saturday 19th December 2010 at 11pm will be the most happening of all time this year to begin with the opening of the event.... We should know it, prepare for it, faith and trust for this league......
Not to drag, just to kindle a fire on all the Salibandy!co players, just to say let us play our best and potential on the field with the right attitude. Not just an individual, but as a team which where we belong and committed.
Therefore, Salibandy!co, the most important to trust the All Mighty One first, then the team and yourself in this very league. Even though especially to the new players, no doubt all of you have done a very great job and comited in this team especially during our training and friendly match for the past few weeks and months. Urge all of you to keep going and your hard work will never be in vain.
Have faith and confidence and team play is the most important in this league than just having ability and skill without those mention earlier. Salibandy! co cant move forward without all of you. Winning is important, but to progress or ahead to the next high of level is the most important.

Firstly I would want to thank God for giving us this 4 wonderful kids, who played so well in the tournament. Shall introduce their names to you. Starting from the left is Sameul Aw, Victor Phang, Iqbal and Vincent Phang.

Special thanks to Gilbert to organise this great tournament. I'm sure it means a lot to the kids. And also thanks to the score & time keepers and referees=)

Little!CO started in the first match of the day, winning 4-1, and in their second match won 12-0. Which gave them maximum points to top the table. Thus, they qualified for the finals where they won 4-0 and became Champions of Jact Tournament 2010 (primary school catogory)

Salibandy!CO just had a friendly match against Gang Bintang, the score? We lost 5-10. It was great afford by all the players. The senior players stood out and performed well, and the new players (1 day old) were fearless against the top players in Malaysia, and even score the 1st goal in the game!

I'm really impress by the committment of the players who needed to wake up so early in the morning to travel all the way to Shah Alam for training. It was coldzy and raining in the morning, and yet they arrived punctual!

Would also like to thank Philip, Gerard and Song Sing for helping us to transport the equipments.

To the players who played in this friendly match, I hope that you'll remember how our oponents played and to learn from them. It's important to always observe the good players, learn from their game play and then improve ourselves.

We will not be having training next Saturday (6th Nov 2010) due to Deepavali=)

It's been a long long time that this blog was not active. As the Selangor Floorball League will be starting on December, this blog shall be re-active again to give updates, information and any news reagarding Salibandy!CO and the floorball world.

Last Saturday (23rd Oct 2010) Salibandy!CO had our training in Shah Alam indoor court. We will be having this kind of training as frequent as possible until the league starts to be prepared physically, mentally, skillfully, and Salibandily.. hahaXD

For our training, we had use a Performance Evaluation System to evaluate the performance of each players during training. Purpose of this is

1) To evaluate own performance for improvements

2) To determine the type of training needed more

Erm, I think it's kind of hard to see it... will work it out to present it better in future. Need some help from the experts.

This two months of floorball league finally came to an end. All the excitement, stress, pressures, nervousness and tiredness ends as well. This is the first time that Salibandy!CO played in such a long league ( 8 matches=2 months ).

As the president of Salibandy!CO ( until this 15th Dec 09 only.. ) i'm very proud on all Salibandiens. This team have improve so much since one year ago when we played in the UM Floorball Tournament. Well done Captain Tong! u've done a great job as captain in this league.

I would say that this club has shown the meaning of "CO" in this league. In times of tense and rough play, we manage to keep calm and show respect to other teams. Although there were times that we just burst and lost our cool, well, i would say that it's part of the journey in becoming a better "CO" club in the future. Salibadiens, learn from mistakes k=)

Gracebandy!CO, although u guys only started floorball around 6 months ago, u all sure did well in this league. U all played with courage! U guys are the first batch of players for Gracebandy!CO that played in a tournament, use this experience and benefit your club. U guys (Gerard, Philip, Joomin, Jerwin & Kendrick) are the foundation of Gracebandy!CO. Keep it up! Your target is to get a full team to play in Selangor Floorball League Season 2! Yea!!

For this tournament, we will have RICKY TONG JUN JIAT to be Salibandy!CO captain! Yea!!! So, let's keep him in prayer and give him your full support =)

The League schedule is not out yet, so wait patiently ya. In the mean time, let's take up your stick and start training at home. It's important to brush up your basics.

For this semester, our TARC training will be on every Thursday & Friday. Do come and support ya!

One last announcement: Player are now require to be registered as a floorball player to be allowed to participate in any floorball tournament or events now and in future. Annual fee is RM10

ITE from Singapore came all the way to Malaysia for a floorball tour. On 30th June 2009, Salibandy!CO played a friendly match against them. This is our first time playing againts an oversea team. Thumbs up to all players as they fought hard in the game. Although they knock us from left and right, and sent Tharma (Sali's smallest size player) flying all over the ground, we really enjoyed the match^=^

Lead by Gerard and Edwin Wong, GraceBandy!Co was form on the 14th June 2009, 5pm. This floorball club is form by the youth from Grace Church, Shah Alam. The youth are known as B.O.M.B. ---> Bunch Of Mighty Believers!

Indeed they're mighty as they only had their 1st
floorball training on that day, during the game
session, they played really well, with courage and
speed, they even managed to give the senior
players a tough time. A lot managed to pick up
the sport very fast!

Time: 5pm - 7pm
Venue: USJ4 Public Futsal Cage
With a nice and "more smooth that TARC" futsal
court, it's a great place to play floorball. God's
blessing was seen on that day as the cloud
became dark, and rain started to drop, but the
wind took all the dark clouds away and allowed us to have a clear sky to have this first floorball
training.

Lets give our full support to this newly team. If
you're staying any where near Shah Alam, or far
from Shah Alam, just grab your stick and head to
USJ4 to join GraceBandy!Co. I promised that

YOUTHWAVE CHALLENGE 2009

This year's Youthwave was great! Like how Manchester United winning the English Premier League for 3 years in a row, Salibandy!Co also did a hat-trick by getting 2nd place for the third straight year in a row. What a great achievement. Well done!

As for SaliChicks!Co, the girls managed to reach their first quater-final. Their performance was world-class even Messi won't have any chance of touching the ball! With the solid defence by Wen Lin (Vidic), strong defencive midfield by Alea (Carrick), attacking midfielders by Kar Yee ( Ronaldo ), Alice (Rooney) & Tharsa ( Giggs), and striker by Karen (Tevez). Together with the coaching stuffss who were screaming like professionals from the side, the whole team was just SUPERB!!

That's how Salibandy was invited by SMK Methodist Tanjung Malim to teach them floorball.

13th March 2009

10pm - started our journey to Perak
11.30pm - Reach Dharma's house. Overnight there
11.35pm - Kel Sern being as blur as he can be, he reintroduce himself to Dharma (actually they already know each other) and thought his name is Paul just because he is Indian.
11.40pm - Kel Sern wanted to bring in the goalpost to the house (maybe he thought we playing that night)
11.41pm - Kel Sern curi curi bring in his shoe bag into the room ( he still thinks we gonna play that night).
12midnight - 3 guys on a bed. What you think happen? ( Sleep la, what else??? haiz.. )

7.20am - Woke up by the chickens...
7.45am - Breakfast!
7.46am - Even though all of us know that Dharma mum cook the Tosai for us, yet Kel Sern choose to ask, " eh, your mum cook this Tosai ar?" as if the Tosai came from the chickens..
7.15am - Bertolak to the school (the guys were hopping for some pretty Form5 girls)
7.30am - Reach!

5 Salibandians from TARC came to this school with a vision to introduce floorball and to let the students have a fun time! Our passion!

There were around 43 students who came for this Sports Camp together with 6 teachers. Thanks to Pn. Lau who organised this camp and invited us there.

Our session started by a short floorball demo, introduction of what is floorball by Kel Sern, rules by Andrian, and "how to hold a stick" by Alice.

Followed by some simple ball control and passing drills...

Getting ready to show their skills although this is their first time playing this sport.

Look at their faces... so focus man!

After the drills we let them have a short competition to really play the game. Winners will have Floorball KeyChains! Home made key chains.. only available at Salibandy.

Divided into 4 teams ( 11 people each team),
Something like Thomas Cup la.. figure it out
yourself.

Besides learning floorball, this young girl was curious about college life. So we have Alice to give her a piece of cake. Ops, it's, to give her a piece her experience in college and also about the courses offered in TARC.

And finally.... After the camp ended, the teachers took us to a nearby river to play water. Maybe it's because we were too smelly. Hahaha.. u think very funny ar. Don't laugh at us kay!

We gonna start floorball in TARC this week, as usual, every Wednesday, 5pm at footsal court.

The only difference this time is that I will not be around on Wed due to Practical Training in Ampang. No worries, for this 3rd semester, we'll have a young, handsome, smart, talented, and skillful person to lead the club during my absent. He's our very own JETHRO!!!

Out of a burst of sudden short message service (SMS) from Song Sing, our "Thing", came a 3 on 3 UM league. How? why? when? what? which? Do not worry of fret as the precious info is out here!

What? : UM league-"lah" what else!
When? : Starting from 26th of February 09 onwards (Every Thursday)
Time? : 6pm onwards
Where?: University Malaya-"lah" why else its called UM!
How? : Faster form a group of 4 players, ( all dudes, all gurls, rojak) [3 players, 1 sub]

On 5th of Nov 2008, Alvin, Alice and Song Sing have attended a coaching course in University Malaya. The coach that have been coaching us for the whole course is the national coach from Switzerland, which is the handsome guy stand beside Song Sing.
This course is also attended by a few famous player from Singapore. Here are some of them. This course is truly memorable and we have learned a lot from it, ball's drilling, passing and many more.

Most memorable moment in floorball? My debut for the club in the Floorball Intervarsity ASEAN Competition at UM. We got bronze !!

The Upcoming league's rules and regulations

the league will be held at this coming wed and thurs @ 5pm to 7pm.

Rules and regulations

1) Each team must consist of 4 field players and 1 substitute (a mixture of 3 girls and 2 guys)

2) Regular game time shall be 8 minutes with no intermissions and the teams shall not change ends.

3) Game time shall be effective. (Implies that time shall be stopped whenever play is interrupted by the

Referee’s whistle, and started again when the ball is played.)

4) Only the team captain is entitled to speak to the referees. He is also obliged to assist them.

5) Substitution of players may take place at any time and an unlimited number of times during a match.

6) The referees shall have the right to stop a match if there is an obvious risk that it can not be continued

according to the rules and there’s unsportsmanlike behavior.

7) 2 minute bench penalty is carried out ;

-)When a player or a member of the team staff is guilty of unsportsmanlike behaviour.

-)When a player, hits, blocks, lifts, kicks or holds an opponent or opponent's stick in order to win a

considerable advantage, or with no possibility of reaching the ball.

-)When a player violates the 3 metres rule at a hit-in or a free-hit.

-)When a field player stops or plays the ball when lying or sitting down.

-)When a field player stops or plays the ball with his hand, arm or head.

-)When a field player participates in play without a stick.

-)When a field player plays the ball above waist level with any part of his stick or his foot

-)When a player is guilty of dangerous play with the stick.

-)When a player forces or pushes an opponent against the board or the goal cage

-)When a team plays with too many players on the court.

8) All participations at own risks. The Organizers (Andy and Kel Vin) definitely will not assume any

responsibilities for personal injuries or loss of belongings, arising the participation in the league or activities related to the league.

9) All decisions made by the referees are deemed final and no dispute will be entertained.

10) Besides the above, the International Floorball Federation rules apply.

11) The organizers reserves the right to any decisions or changes made through the league

Hearing about all the fun that is going on in Penang regarding the Penang league makes our blood boil. We wanna join the fun and the rush of competitive floorball too!
