Centers: Terence and Kenaan / Alvin
Forwards: Jonathan, Isaac Boo, Malao, Isaac Kong, Alice, Kenaan / Daniel

Captain: Daniel

1st Period: Salibandy!Co 3 - Joker Prodigy 4
2nd Period: Salibandy!Co 6 - Joker Prodigy 6
3rd Period: Salibandy!Co 10 - Joker Prodigy 7

Scores from Salibandy!Co:
Terence ---> 3 goals
Alvin ---> 3 goals
Jonathan ---> 2 goals
Malao ---> 1 goal
Daniel ---> 1 goal

Goals conceded:
Match 1 vs Gang Bintang 12 goals
Match 2 vs Gracebandy!Co 4 goals
Match 3 vs GMI Blackwings 2 goals
Match 4 vs Bangi Rusty Blade 7 goals
Match 5 vs Subang Rascals 13 goals
Match 6 vs GMI White Knights 6 goals
Match 7 vs Joker 7 goals

Team analysis:

1) Overall it was a good performance by the team. Our defenders once again shown good control and possesion of the ball which is a vital factor of our team's good performace!

2) Our forwards too did well by creating scoring oppurcunities. Only thing is the forward will need to convert more of these oppurcunities into goals ya ^.^

3) We once again conceeded 4 goals in the first period, and later on conceeded lesser goals in the remainding 2nd and 3rd period. This was the same case during GMI WhiteKnights as well. If you think back on the draw vs GMI match compare to the win vs Joker match. We draw with GMI because we conceeded too much goals in 1st period but unable to score back because GMI defence and Goallie is IMBA! But Joker's defence and goallie not as good as GMI.

--> So looking at our next match vs Griffin where their defence and goallie is better than GMI and they conceeded much lessor goals than us... we must tighten our defence greatly especially in the 1st period if we want to win the match. If not history of GMI might return to haunt us.

4) Dear goallie, just some tips to improve:
---> when opponents are behind your goalpost, you should only turn your head to have a quick look behind and not to turn your whole body. This will help you be quick to get into proper positions.

---> always remember to cover the area in-between your two legs. To avoid being "kang lang" =/

Conclusion: We once again shown good fighting spirit to win the match when we conceeded so much in 1st period. But let's not take it for granted, but take it as a lesson and to improve more in defending as a team!

SFL Match Day 6 - Salibandy!Co vs GMI White Knights

1st Period: GMI White Knights 4 - Salibandy!Co 1
2nd Period: GMI White Knights 5 - Salibandy!Co 3
3rd Period: GMI White Knights 6 - Salibandy!Co 6

Scores from Salibandy!Co
--> Alvin 1 goal
--> Kel Sern 1 goal
--> Song Sing 1 goal
--> Terence 3 goals

Goals conceded:
Match 1 vs Gang Bintang 12 goals
Match 2 vs Gracebandy!Co 4 goals
Match 3 vs GMI Blackwings 2 goals
Match 4 vs Bangi Rusty Blade 7 goals
Match 5 vs Subang Rascals 13 goals
Match 6 vs GMI White Knights 6 goals

Team analysis:

General view:
1) The first period was the worst period we have played so far in this league. We didn't defend as a team, we didn't attack as a team, we didn't play as a team. When opponents attacked, forwards did not come down to help defend resulting in conceding 4 goals.

2) The second and third period showed everyone that we had a strong fighting and strong team spirit. We played much better and we played as a TEAM, resulting in conceding only 1 goal in each period.

3) Lack of passing - defenders not able to pass the ball to forwards because all forwards are too close to opponent's defenders.
---> Forwards need to run into empty space / come nearer to our defenders to receive the ball.

Conclusion: Honestly we did not improve and learn from our mistakes at all. The general views above are actually the same as that of other matches. If we do not fix these problems quickly, we will continue to be punished severely by other teams (old AND new). Time to learn guys! Remember, its not knowing, but learning that will actually make us improve as a team.

The difference? Some people know but repeat the same mistakes. Others learn and make new mistakes

--> Jansen 2 goals
--> Kel Sern 1 goal
--> Song Sing 1 goal
--> Alvin 1 goal

Goals conceded:
Match 1 vs Gang Bintang 12 goals
Match 2 vs Gracebandy!Co 4 goals
Match 3 vs GMI Blackwings 2 goals
Match 4 vs Bangi Rusty Blade 7 goals
Match 5 vs Subang Rascals 13 goals

Team analysis:

General view:
1) We gave opponents too much time and space to make shots.
---> need to cover / close down / take down / block / stick to opponents fast before they even get to shot.

2) Our main scorer (Terence) was closely mark by opponents.
---> Other forwards need to take this oppurcunity to rise up and produce goals. We can't rely on one player only. Solution, everyone train super hard. We should aim to be best players in Malaysia, if not then why even do we want to train? ya.. =)

3) Lack of passing - defenders not able to pass the ball to forwards because all forwards are too close to opponent's defenders.
---> Forwards need to run into empty space / come nearer to our defenders to receive the ball.

Conclusion: In previous matches, we were always badly crush by Subang Rascals. But this match shows that this season we've became much stronger. Winning or lossing is one thing, most importantly is to continue to improve and to perform well in the remainding matches. GMI WhiteKnights also had shown great improvement this season. It's going to be another hard fought match!

Team Training - Session 2

Date: 10th February 2012
Time: 9pm to 11pm
Venue: Puchong Court

Second training session saw an increase in attendance, which is great! Because the more players we have in training, the more stronger our club will be. It's like investment. The more everyone invest in training, the more our club will benefit, and yourself also will definely benefit.

As usual, everyone started with warm-up before coach arrived. Which is good casue it would safe us more time for drills.

Training 1: Same as last week's training 1. (pls refer to Team Training - Session 1 - Training 1)

Training 2: With a player (P1) standing with a cone in the middle, another player (P2) stands at the left and another player (P3) stands at the right. P1 would pass the ball to P2, when p2 receives the ball and with proper EYE CONTACT, P1 would make a fake to one direction and then runs to the other direction to receive the ball from P2. P2 needs to be alert (eye contact) to know where to pass the ball.

After P1 does the fake and receive the ball from P2, P1 will bring the ball back to the cone at the middle and now pass it to P3 and does the same drill again with P3.

Training 3: This drill consist of a player standing behind the goal-post (P1) and all other players standing at the middle court by the side (P2).

P2 starts with the ball at middle court, then shouts to P1 to "fake". P1 makes a fake to one direction and runs to the other direction to receive the ball. When P1 makes the fake, P2 would pass the ball to P1 and then P1 will pass the ball back to P2 for P2 to make a shot on goal.

After P2 makes the shot, P2 will replace P1's position behind the goal-post.

Important notes: Always keep the blade on the ground to prepare to shot. Ground passes are important for players to receive and pass the ball properly which will result in a good shot / goal.

Training 4: This drill consists of 4 attacking players (F4) and 2 defending players (D2) and a goallie.

F4 will pass the ball around to each other while D2 will try to prevent those passes. Objective of the drill is to make 10 complete passes, do a fake to receive the ball and shot on goal.

Important note:
(a) When passing the ball, always keep yourself away from the defenders. Pass the ball to wide areas.

(b) When making a pass, give your BEST pass, so you can confirm that your teammate is able to receive the ball and thus able to pass back the ball to you.

(c) After the 10 passes are complete, you'll need to be patient to create oppurcunities to take a shot.

Quate of the day by coach Sasi:

Subang Rascals are like Michael Jordan, Salibandy!Co are like babies. If Subang losses, Subang will feel ashame. But if Sali losses, there's nothing to be ashame. Therefore, go in the match without fear.

If baby tries to run against Michael Jordan, baby will get injured. So don't run, but craw. Do what you're good at during match, don't do new things which you are not yet good at.

Keep to the basics we've learn and we'll be fine during game.

And finally, pray to the Lord!

SFL Match Day 4

Match Summary Of Bangi Rusty Blade vs Salibandy!Co

Venue: Rakan Muda Complex - Puchong
Date: 4th February 2012
Time: 8pm to 10pm

Starting line-up:

Goalkeeper: Colin
Defenders: Song Sing, Ricky and Kel Sern
Centers: Isaac Boo and Alvin
Forwards: Terence, Daniel, Isaac Kong and Jonathan

Captain: Daniel Phang

Coach: Suresh

Referees: Naufal and Aqil Azam

1st Period: Bangi Rusty Blade 3 - Salibandy!Co 3
2nd Period: Bangi Rusty Blade 5 - Salibandy!Co 8
3rd Period: Bangi Rusty Blade 7 - Salibandy!Co 10

Scores for Salibandy!Co
--> Terence 5 goals
--> Alvin 4 goals
--> Kel Sern 1 goal

Goals conceded:
Match 1 vs Gang Bintang 12 goals
Match 2 vs Gracebandy!Co 4 goals
Match 3 vs GMI Blackwings 2 goals
Match 4 vs Bang Rusty Blade 7 goals

Team analysis:

1) Forwards & Centers: As what Suresh mention, line 1 is okay in attacking but lack of passing the ball back to defenders. Line 2 will need to work harder. Guys, train hard and I promise you'll improve a lot. Attend the Friday's training regularly and also train ball control and shooting at home. Train hard means spent at least 1 hour a day to train.

2) Defenders: Defenders always have the extra pressure while defending and when goals are conceded. But good job to our defenders this time, with only 3 defenders rotating, you guys work really hard. Although some mistakes had cause opponents to score, but overall you all had been solid. Forwards too have responsibilities in defending.

3) Goalkeeper: After Friday's training, you had been more solid and more confident. Good positioning had help safe a lot of goals. Just need to work on low shots. Had improve at throwing the ball at the 3rd period. Remember, you can stand up and look for better options to throw the ball. Besides, when standing up, you will be able to throw it harder and more accurate.

4) Areas to improve: (a) do not pass ball at the center (danger zone). (b) Last man (defender) do not dribble the ball up. (c) Forwards need to pass the ball back to defenders. (d) All players need to take down opponents fast to prevent them from shooting.

Conclusion: Drink salt water + good warm-up is able to prevent leg crams. We're currently 3rd placing at the table, but there's still a long way to go. So let's stay together as a team, train together and continue to be one with our Lord. "One Team One Way!"

Team Training - Session 1

Date: 3rd February 2012
Time: 9pm to 11pm

After months of having training at TARC tennis court at night, finally Salibandy!Co had manage to upgrade our training ground to be at Puchong Rakan Muda Complex, and also to have Sasi as our coach!

Training Schedule that had been confirm booked:

03/02/2012 --> 9-11.00pm
10/02/2012 --> 9-11.00pm
17/02/2012 --> 9-11.00pm
02/03/2012 --> 10-11.59pm
09/03/2012 --> 10-11.59pm
16/03/2012 --> 10-11.59pm
23/03/2012 --> 10-11.59pm
30/03/2012 --> 10-11.59pm

* be at court at least 30 minutes early to set up boards and warm-up (Sasi did mention about punctuality)

Training 1: All players stands at 2 rows at each side of the court. 2 center players at the center will pass the ball around to the players at the side non-stop for 2 minutes. The 2 center players must call for the ball (call names). Training pace must be as intense as real match situation.

Training 2: Each players has a partner. Player no.1 will defend the ball while player no.2 will try to win the ball over. Training period last for 2 minutes before changing roles of player no.1 and no.2

Training 3: Consists of Forward 1 (F1), Forward 2 (F2), Defender 1 (D1) and Defender 2 (D2).
a) F1 will try to pass the ball to F2.
b) D1 will try to block F1's passing while D2 will try to man-mark F2.
c) When F2 receives the ball, F1 will then fake D1 to receive the pass from F2 to make a shot.

* Note1: F1 need to have eye-contact with F2 to know when to pass the ball.
* Note2: F2 need to fake D2 by going one direction (looks like really wants the ball) but then changes direction to the other side to receive the pass from F1.

Comments from Coach:
1) Every player need to go home and draw out the training drills and visualize it. It's important to do more THINKING!

2) Go home and train on ball control. The lower your body goes, the further vision your eyes will have on the court.

3) Those who have leg crams, please drink salt water during the match.

4) If you know wrist-shot, then you can score a lot of goals. Train more shots at home so you'll be able to explore more about the stick and the shots.

5) Very important to call each other's name during the game. It will create eye contact and confidence among the players.

Scores from Salibandy!Co

--> Terence 3 goals
--> Alvin 2 goals
--> Jonathan 2 goal
--> Kel Sern 1 goal

Goals conceeded:
Match 1 vs Gang Bintang 12 goals
Match 2 vs Gracebandy!Co 4 goals
Match 3 vs GMI Blackwings 2 goals

Man Of The Match: Leon (top assist for the day!)

Team analysis:

1) Overall performance wasn't as good as the previous 2 matches, but we still manage a win. It won't be the same result if we were against stronger teams. It's either because Sasi wasn't around or we had under-estimated our opponents. We must step-up from this low form if we want to win against Bangi next match!

2) What Kel Sern said was true... when opponents attacked our goal, not every player bothered to run down to defend. Againts stronger teams, such as Bangi, we must not let this happen again. When we attack, we attack as a team, when we need to defend, we defend as a team!

3) Lack of passing and didn't manage to create enough scoring oppurcunities to get more goals.

4) Well, every team including the best team will go through good form and bad form. But what determines a champion is to manage to maintain good form for most of the matches, and hopefully for every match.

Conclusion: A win is still a win. Great job guys! We shall grow stronger after each match.
